I ENDED MY NO BUY!

Hello Beautiful Curlies,

For those who do not know I won a ton of products from a naturallycurly.com giveaway last year. In my opinion, my family disagrees with this statement, but i was not a product junkie before that giveaway. Something about getting a lot of products to try kick started my inner pj. HOWEVER, it was brought to my attention by my family that I should go on a no buy for 6 months. And that six months has ended at such a good time. Target is currently having a BOGO 50% off sale for Shea Moisture.

Well I took advantage and brought 4 products. The Curl and Style Milk, Deep Treatment Mask, The Purification Mask and the Smooth and Repair Nourishing Hair Masque. I took advantage because it seems like Shea Moisture never has a good sale going on, or maybe I'm missing them. At my local Target these are 11.99 each and they became $9 each (which isn't too good but hey what can ya do?) I have just tried the Purification mask last night to relieve my itchy scalp and it was a good experience but I will be trying it again before I do a review. Hopefully its not too late for you to pick something up on sale too.

Side note: Please check your products before you buy them because one of my was clearly tested by some inconsiderate fool and i didn't realize it until I got home.

New High Porosity Regimen/ Bumble and Bumble & Original Moxie Product Review

Welcome back beautiful curlies!

In my last post I told ya I discovered that I may have high porosity hair based on how my hair behaves after a ACV rinse. Now since then i have been really caught up in my family's birthdays, as well as my own, and my hair has taken a back seat. Now I knew I was not going to have the time to maintain my hair so I put them in twists (bad idea). For many twists are a protective style but for my hair they are destructive! They look horrible after only a few days and when they are taken down its tangles galore.

So last night i applied some Tresseme Naturals (white cap) to my hair to moisturize and provide slip. Then I used a applicator bottle to apply my avc rinse concentrating on my scalp first then on the length of my hair. Secondly I used the Aussie 3min Miracle to detangle and deep condition. Okay I never rinsed it out because I was tired of getting my hair wet so I used a cotton T to soak up the excess product and went on to styling. Now the plan was a wash and go. However, my hair doesn't dry in time for work the next day so I did medium-large braids instead. One side I used Bumble and Bumble Bb curl conscious defining creme, on the other side Original Moxie Shape Shifter Reforming creme.

This will be a short review because I simply hate long ones. The curl conscious creme is a thick white cream that goes on smooth but in my opinion provides only some definition. I still had frizz and as the days go on that frizz will only increase. So...overall my review is a 2/5.

The Shape Shifter is quickly becoming a favorite for me. Now i noticed it doesn't work for me unless I use the acv rinse first. It is a runny cream that is sandy in color and smells herbal and awful. However, goes on like a dream and provides a nice amount of slip and SHINE!!! Not like a oily shine but a hydrated shine. My hair looked so much better, the health of my hair looked so much better. I didn't need a lot of it either.

Well i will be using this regimen for a while to see how this works out minus the Bb curl conscious creme. Take care curlies!

Apple Cider Vinegar Rinses

Okay lets just jump right on into it. This is not going to be a long post at all ( I think...hopefully.) I wash my hair every week with a non-sulfate shampoo, however, this is not enough. For anyone who is not a natural curly, this is not disgusting and is actually recommended. Moving along, while my hair is okay with this shampoo routine my scalp isn't. It will itch and annoy me so I have started using a apple cider vinegar rinses in the middle of the week to hold take care of my scalp buildup.
I used a applicator bottle 50% water, 50% acv. I applied Original Moxie's shape shifter for the first time, ya'll that thing stinks! Putting it in my hair was a surprise because it had so much slip, or so I thought. So I tried the shape shifter again, no slip. This week I did the acv rinse followed up with Giovanni's Smooth as Silk Condish (because I get split ends like no one's business and thought I could use a little protein) and my hair felt so smooth and then it hit me. ITS THE ACV YOU BIG DUMMY!

AND THEN IT HIT ME AGAIN...YOU HAVE HIGH POROSITY HAIR!

Okay this is big for me ya'll. I have been natural for four years now and I thought I knew my hair. But now its like I'm still learning. And now i'm rethinking my views about products may not be because they suck it may be due to the porosity in my hair and its raised scales on the cuticle. I'm doing research and rethinking how I'm going to create a new routine for washing and styling my hair as well as retrying products with the acv to see if this will make a difference.
 Take care beautiful curlies!

Satin Hair Scrunchies (Bonbons Cheveux Boutique Review)

Hello Beautiful Curlies!

I recently lost my satin hair scrunchie! Yes, it was devastating. I was reduced to using a regular hair elastic. you know, the one without the metal but still snatches you bald with the melted part in the middle of the elastic. And I have proof!
This pseudo-hair-healthy-alternative (sans metal) elastic ripped my hair out. And this was from only one day. Soooo...I began looking for another satin scrunchie on etsy. I saw a shop called Bonbons Cheveux Boutique that sold a three pack of satin scrunchies for only $12 (plus $2 for fast shipping). They are 100% Charmeuse handmade scrunchies.

I received my scrunchies in less than a week and immediately replaced the elastic for the scrunchie. I choose three black ones but they sell these in many colors and also sell satin hair bonnets. Included is their business card and care instructions for the scrunchies. I am sooo happy with these. Check these guys out on etsy  Bonbons Cheveux Boutique.
Btw my first experience with satin hair accessories was with Ebonicurls bonnets which i will be doing a review for soon. Take care Curlies!

December Influentster JollyVoxBox

I GOT A GIFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I signed up for an influenster membership once I saw someone else receive free products from this company, and y'all should know I LOVE FREE! So when I was told I will be receiving the Jolly VoxBox for December I was ecstatic.

"It's the most wonderful time of the year.. Filled with treasure to keep you smiling from ear to ear, the Jolly VoxBox is finally here!" The JollyVoxBox was the first gift under my Christmas tree.
Inside the box was the goodies I received:
Puffs Ultra Soft & Strong To Go Tissue Pack- This couldn't have come at a better time. I'm getting over a cold and made the mistake of using tissue I got from a fast food place (big mistake-but i know i'm not the only one who did this). These tissues are one of their "non-lotion" kind but nonetheless they are soft and gentle of my red raw nose.
NYC New York Color HD Color Trio Shadow- $2.99 I'm one of the few women who do not wear make-up. On a rare blue moon I'll use some foundation and that's it. However, this palette comes with three neutral shades (highlight, all-over color, and crease).
Rimmel London NEW Show Off Lip Lacquer- $5.49-$5.99 This lip lacquer is in the shade stargazer which is like a champagne color with gold flecks in it. Its creamy and I like it. Between this lip gloss and the eye shadow I may actually wear makeup more often.
Skinny Cow Candy- $3.99/box I LOVE chocolate. This low calorie snack lets me enjoy chocolate and caramel without guilt. Yummmmm!
Ducklings Mini Rolls- $2-$3 This roll of tape has a 'splatter-paint' pattern that is just too cute. This will make my sub-par gift wrapping look a whole lot better one the eyes and too the kids.

Testing out these products were fun and I enjoyed them. Thank you Influenster, Happy Holidays!

L'oreal Evercurl Review And Protective Style

Okay I have to make record of this because I never want to make the mistake of not liking these products. forget and buy them over again. C'mon I know I'm not the only one who experienced this. So here is my review of L'oreal Evercurl.

OK......
The  L'oreal Evercurl Shampoo was decent actually. It doesn't strip my hair and make it feel like matted straw but it does not have that clean tingle that I love with the U R Curly shampoo. So its is decent but i won't purchase another.

The  L'oreal Evercurl Conditioner was horrible. There just isn't a better way to describe it. It had very little slip, my hair didn't feel soft, and I ended up using 1/4 of the bottle in one session. I definitely won't purchase another one of these.

The  L'oreal Evercurl Leave-in was decent as well. After rinsing out the conditioner, I t-shirt-dried my hair for 5 min. When I applied the leave-in my hair was noticeably softer. Detangled with comb and a tangle teezer which was decent but nothing special. I wish it had more slip and the bottle was bigger.

All in all these products I would not recommend or repurchase and they will be overlooked the next time im in the drugstore.

So lately I have been working my behind off and have been neglecting my hair. After the L'oreal disappointment I decided to twist my hair for the week ahead. It took three hours and Im not sure why because my twists weren't that small. I used the Eden BodyWorks Pudding Souffle which I am loving because of the price (like $10) and the way it has kept my hair soft in 20 degree weather for days. To get this style I took the front pieces of my twists, crossed them in the back and pinned them down. Taking the rest of my twists in the back i fold them up to the center of the back where my twists previously cross and pin them down. Its simple and I love the way it looks.

Leave comments below if you would like me to do more of these "styles". Take care Curlies!

Product Junkie Withdrawals

Hello Beautiful Curlies!

I am writing this post because I want a record of what I, not only emotionally but physically too, am going through. Black Friday was last month and I didn't get a single thing. Don't get me wrong I had a list with almost 20 products on my phone but realized that I haven't used up what I had. And it I am on a no-buy till march.
So while everyone is getting there black Friday discounted products and making videos I noticed I physically have been running my hands through my hair constantly. This is serious y'all! Is it possible to be addicted to buying hair products? Not necessarily using them, because in all honesty some of them ain't worth it, but just buying them. For example, I am a big fan of CurlyGirlJess on YouTube, and yes I know we don't have the same curl pattern but i don't care, and she did a haul that included kizuribeauty products. Their products are AFFORDABLE!!!! The first thing I thought of was this might be a replacement for Shea moisture because i don't know if anyone else is noticing this but Shea moisture is upping their prices and in some products (the style milk) decreasing product sizes. I really wanted to try their products and they are now having a sale for 20% off(ending today of course i find out about it the last day of the sale). If anyone is interested let me know if you heard or used and liked their products. Take care Curlies!
